Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A complex dry wine with many layers that quickly evolve in your glass. The first swirl and sniff reveals a barrel aged wine with beautiful toasted vanilla aromas with underlying fruit of cooked peach and pear. Think Caramelized Crème Brulee topped with sautéed peaches and a dollop of whipped cream!
Awards
Gold - 2016 Maryland Governor's Cup Wine Competition
Vineyard Notes
Chardonnay from Tranquility Vineyards (Joe & Peggy Denton) in Prince Frederick, Maryland Viognier & Albariño from Long Looked For, Come At Last Vineyard (Conrad & Byrne family) in Golden Beach, St. Mary’s County, Maryland
Production Notes
50% Chardonnay, 39% Viognier and 11% Albariño blend produced from premium, limited production grapes.
Winemaker Notes
Wanting to create something with more oak influence to balance out the crisp stainless steel style used in the making of most of our whites, we decided to age and ferment a high percentage of this wine in oak using French oak for the Chardonnay and older (neutral) oak to age the Viognier. The Chardonnay went through full Malolactic Fermentation (MLF) adding a full bodied creamy style creating a butter bomb to compliment the fruity Viognier. The bright fruity background character was achieved with a splash of Albariño which was both aged & fermented in Stainless Steel.
Food Pairing Notes
Enjoy with creamy Alfredo Pasta or Asparagus Risotto!
